Welcome to Soaring in First Grade!

Welcome to Soaring in First Grade!  Allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Jessica Cross.  I currently teach first grade in central Florida.  I have finished my first year teaching and am looking forward to many more years in the classroom.  I love teaching.  When I am not obsessing over something in my classroom, I love to be crafty.  I am a huge scrapbooker!  I also learned how to sew this year and am coming up with new projects that I could sew. 

I am originally from Vermont.  I moved to Florida with my nine year old son last year.  It has been quite a change for the two of us.  I have discovered that education can be quite different in various states.  Part of me wishes that education in Florida was more like education in Vermont.  With that said, I do love my job here and know that I have been brought to my school for a reason.  The kids that I teach are amazing despite coming from situations that are far from ideal.  

This is my first attempt at a blog.  Please be patient as I stumble my way through this.  I am also in the process of setting up my very own Teachers Pay Teachers store.  There were many times this year where I had to create materials for my classroom because I just couldn't find what I needed at a reasonable price.  I encourage you to check out my store often as I will be uploading new materials as soon as I finish them.  I will try to remember to create a new post here about new products.  If there is something specific that you are looking for, feel free to get in touch with me.  I am more than happy to try to create something for you.
